Indexing The Site

Just a general muse now. We have asked the kindly compuskills web design team to set up a google site map to help get this blog noticed by the all mighty, all seeing Google and it got me thinking about how do we get noticed by “blog indexes.”

Now, surely if we hosted this site on (for example) Blogger.com there is a more than even chance that sites like technocrati will notice it and index it, adding it easily to the sum total of human knowledge. However, hosting it on your own servers seems (in this instance) as disadvantage.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about how we get the blog indexed? It is probably worth spending some time investigating this and anything that crops up will be posted here.

  1. The problems with linking to technorati were down to Ping-O-Matic being out.

The connection scripts have now been updated to auto ping http://technorati.com/ and manual pings have been made to the other blog watch sites.

    Hope this helps 🙂
