Late amendment, the BBC heading now says “Turkish plane crash in Amsterdam ” thus making an apparent liar of me. But, I will choose to take the credit instead.

That is a very interesting weblink – it is entertaining to see how the BBC revises its news as the day progresses.
Obviously the urge to get something, anything, published quickly far outweighs the drive to check what drivel you are writing.
