cutting the public sector will reduce the amount of money going into the economy and make more people unemployed. cutting unemployment benefits at the same time will just leave more people unable to support themselves unless there is some magic way a few million new jobs will appear from nowhere.

i suspect we can look forward to steadily increasing crime, decreasing health (and fortunately for the chancellor, life expectancy) and a general down slide of the nation.

I’ve not seen a satisfactory explanation why a bunch of young and inexperienced politicians believe that the debt reduction has to be so swift or fuelled by such massive cuts, which will damage the economy for decades to come, and deeply reduce our national infrastructure.
