"I’ve heard this nonsense before and it was proved false then," is an argument based on previous experience. To me that sounds sceptical rather than purely cynical, but it depends on how you think about the words. The two aren't as exclusive as I suggest. Perhaps I should have used the word <em>dogmatic</em> as a comparison instead. As for Evolutionary Psychology I found David Buller's <a href="http://www.niu.edu/phil/~buller/research/adaptingminds.shtml" rel="nofollow">Adapting Minds</a> a good read if a little heavy going in places. It's available as a paperback which makes it surprisingly affordable.
