The other common one is how this “makes people safer” and prevents crime. Personally I have yet to see any evidence this is the case, at best it will increase the chance of detecting the perpatrators of crime – I fail to see how the victim is any safer.
It is odd, that here in a “free” country we spend so much time and effort throwing away those freedoms in a vain attempt to be made “safe” from a threat which is largely fictional.
