The Spartans were as close as it got to equal rights for women in classical era Greece. Spartan women were expected to be tough, brave and laconic – just like the men. (Obviously this is by the standards of the time…)

Although my recollections of Thermopylae are sketchy(*), I dont remember the Persians having Elephants 🙂 but it was pretty much the most famous thing the Spartans did (unless you count Troy but that is a different story..).

Do they try to make Xerxes look like Bin Laden (remember Alexander?)
