I came accross this blog whilst trying to find out what had happened to my database servers with 1and1. I tried phoning them - "all our contacts are busy right now. Please phone back later." and that was after 5 minutes on hold. Nothing anywhere to let you know server status. What company the size of 1and1 has no service status pages? It is ridiculous and I am now looking for a more robust and suitable host for my sites.

You are right TW, they will still be voted as the UKs best host...

[...] Email Problems If people have tried to contact Compuskills or the Project Management Service by email today, we have to apologise as there has been a slight problem (as reported on the Why Dont You Blog). Fortunately, it does not seem to have effected the Web Design service’s email, which appears to be getting through fine. It appears our server provider (1&1) have had an email outage and not felt it important enough to inform customers of this - nor put any links on the web admin panel. [...]
