]]>Once upon a time there were quite a few dedicated eBook Readers, including The original Rocket eBook, Gemstar Rocket eBook (REB), Franklin eBookman, and Hiebook. However beginning in 2003 several events occured; Gemstar stopped producing the Rocket eBook and Softbook, Everybook went out of the market, and Sony stopped production of the Clie.
The evolution of Pocket PC’s, PDA’s and Laptops made the dedicated eBook reader not really needed anymore. After all how many elctronic devices do we want to carry around with us? eBooks can certainly be read on these devices, so the dedicated eBook Reader pretty much faded off into the sunset.
There are, however, at least two that remain. The old standby and premier device, Franklin’s eBookman and a relatively new device, Cybook. For readers, the good thing about these devices is that they are larger than the PDA’s and Pocket PC’s (more the size of a paperback) and less cumbersome and lighter than a laptop. If reading is what you are really interested in, the following dedicated readers may be just what your looking for.
