Some ideas are brilliant and should be copied because they are stable and worthwhile enough to be replicated (windows for example), some work simply because they are original (this one).

Advertising is not a magical art, the key is getting the traffic you want on your website. If hits come from people who dont want your product or service you are simply wasting bandwidth. This is why targeted adverts (google adsense etc) work so much better than just random dottings.
